DEI Series
MIT Sloan’s Deputy Dean of Teaching and Learning launched a series of DEI Initiatives for professors. One of these was by Kara Blackburn, a Senior Lecturer in Managerial Communication who needed accompanying visuals for her video on “Psychological Safety in the Classroom.”
I visualized the edited script by making a storyboard and custom assets in Figma that I then passed to a video editor. I collaborated directly with the video editor to make edits to the visuals as we received feedback.

More “buttoned up”
As this was for a professor audience from a Deputy Dean about an important subject, the presentation aesthetic needed to communicate a more serious air.
Matching Text and Audio
To keep the focus on Kara, I aimed to keep the text on the visuals as close to her narration as possible where applicable.
As Little Text as Possible
Aside from the visuals moving quickly, large swaths of text on slides has never engaged anyone. I aimed to show rather than tell with non-text visuals and kept sentences short, with less than 5 points on a visual.
